The end of The Tour de Farce

The boys arrived safely in Chamonix on Friday 10th September after cycling 651 miles through all manner of weather conditions and health conditions.

This blog will continue to update, as the boys have further fundraising activities planned for September and October, including another cycling event (although considerably shorter than this one!).

Thank you for following the blog - and please keep following it in the future.

End of Day 3

The boys arrived safely in Chateau Thierry this afternoon after a short detour through a cornfield (photo below).

Feedback from the boys:

George: We started off in a really beautiful part of France this morning with brilliant weather. The going got a bit tougher as the day wore on, with the heat and a really worn-out road being quite a challenge. We did some really great hills - very chuffed when we got to the top. We got a bit lost trying to avoid the dual carriageways - big thanks to Kyle who drove ahead and sorted out changes to the route - shame we didn't listen to him and instead ended up in a field (hope Stu's got a receipt for his GPS...). I think the sun has gone to my head - I've washed all my cycling shorts this evening and am now wondering if I will have any dry shorts to wear tomorrow.... off to bed now."

Stewart:
"Today was a great day. We tackled a couple of proper ascents, the longest was probably a couple of miles in length. We took an 'un-named' road which turned into grass then lead to a big field of corn!! Well, it is the 'tour de farce' so it had to happen! Tomorrow we head for Troyes, but right now I'm off to apply some anti-inflammatory cream to my ****!!!!

Steve: "Yet another fantastic day of gloriously hot sunshine to improve on our ridiculous cyclist suntans! Goggle marks and stripy arms and legs are us! Started off the day feeling spaced out and awful, but ground out the miles until I returned. A very memorable day for a 'short cut' through the woods. Buzzards aplenty and a swarm of starlings as we went into the restaurant for our steaks! Thank you so much to all the people who have donated at home and enroute. Keep the donations coming. Barbara/Mauricio - please email us and let us know if radio Chamonix are going to plug us!!

Paul: " For me, the hard work really started today, with the longer climbs and well over 270 miles on the clock I really felt the last 10 miles (0nly 5 more days to go - oh my god!!!). Stu's off the beaten track exhibition to the undiscovered France was an experience on its own although Steve certainly enjoyed discovering new insects and wildlife. Big day tomorrow as we break through the half-way point - onwards and very upwards!!"
